Handgun Safety Program Sept. 17
NEW MILFORD â A National Rifle Association handgun safety course will be held on Saturday, September 17. The instructor is a veteran police officer in Connecticut.
The one-day program is designed to provide the basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for using or owning a handgun. The course, which emphasizes safety and responsible ownership, educates anyone who may come in contact with a firearm.
Successful completion of the program is a basic requirement prior to applying for a state handgun permit in Connecticut and most other states. Students will learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety, shooting fundamentals, and an overview of the Connecticut State General Statutes for firearms.
A national written examination and a live-fire range qualification will also be conducted at the program. Seating is limited. For more information on this or future classes call 860-354-1991.
