Creating A Wildlife Habitat Using Native Plants
Creating A Wildlife Habitat Using Native Plants
The Lillinonah Audubon Society will begin its fall season of programs on Thursday, September 22, with a program at 7:30 pm at C.H. Booth Library.
The featured speaker for the evening will be Peter Picone, a wildlife biologist with the Department of Environmental Protection.Â
Mr Picone will explain how anyone can make a difference in the environment by creating and enhancing wildlife habitats in backyards and neighborhoods by using native trees, shrubs and wildflowers.
Illustrating with slides, Mr Picone will discuss the connection between native plants and animals, especially songbirds, hummingbirds and butterflies.
He will also discuss habitat components necessary for the survival of wildlife through all four seasons.
This will be a very helpful program for those interested in attracting birds and other wildlife to their yards and gardens.
Socializing and refreshments will begin at 7:30. Those planning to attend should arrive no later than 7:45, since the libraryâs doors are locked after that time. Mr Piconeâs program will begin at 8.Â
There is no fee, but donations are welcome.
