Benefit Auction & White Elephant Sale, September 24

ROXBURY — Christ Church in Roxbury will hold a Benefit Auction and White Elephant Sale on Saturday, September 24. The event will run from 10 am to 3 pm in the church’s Diebold Hall, on the green in Roxbury.

Proceeds will benefit The Oratory of the Little Way in Gaylordsville, Makindu Children’s Center in Kenya, Africa, The Kondwa Children’s Center in Zambia, Africa, and Christ Church.

Beginning at 10 am, Woodbury appraiser Bernie McManus will be available to appraise up to three items per person for a fee of $10 for the first item and $5 for each additional item. At the same time a silent auction featuring many treasures, both old and new, will run from 10 am to 1 pm. Also during that time, guests may preview the live auction items.

Auctioneer Mitchell Borenstein of Applebrook Auctions in Brookfield will call the live auction from 1 to 3 pm. Among the fabulous items to be auctioned off are a week’s stay in an apartment located in the heart of Paris, gourmet dinner parties, a week’s stay in the scenic Adirondacks, fine artwork, and more.

A white elephant sale will be ongoing during the day offering a vast array of costume jewelry, pottery, china and glass. A food tent will offer a delicious and reasonably-priced luncheon menu featuring homemade soup, sandwiches, and beverages during the event.

The church, at 1 North Street, can be reached by calling 860-354-4113.
