Pride FC Soccer Home Sunday, September 10; First Of Three-Game Schedule At Blue & Gold Stadium
Newtown Pride FC, a member of the Connecticut Soccer League whose club is recognized for winning three straight CSL titles, announces a three-game home schedule this fall at Blue & Gold Stadium in Sandy Hook.
The games are scheduled for Sundays, September 10, against Farmington Sports Arena Football Club; September 17 against Polina Falcon of New Britain; and October 1 against the Glastonbury Celtics. All games will be played at 2 pm at Newtown High School, 12 Berkshire Road.
Pregame activities will begin at 1 pm with music, food, and fun for the family. All children wearing soccer jerseys will get into the game for free; adults will be charged $5. Net proceeds of the events will go to support Newtown Youth & Family Services.
Mike Svanda, head coach of the team, shares his excitement for bringing people together and making a difference locally: "Newtown Pride FC is excited to be a part of the movement in Newtown to use soccer as a catalyst to enhance community spirit and expand the phenomenal work of both the Newtown Nighthawks Soccer Club and Newtown Youth and Family Services."
This marks the first year that Newtown Pride will be partnering with Newtown Nighthawks Soccer Club in an effort to elevate the game locally while bringing people together.
"Our goal with the Newtown Soccer Club is to encourage and grow a passion for soccer in our young athletes," commented Richard Muir, president of the Newtown Soccer Club. "We feel we can achieve this by creating a Newtown-style soccer curriculum designed, built, and executed by none other than the best of the best. This includes a top-notch coaching staff led by Newtown High School Coach Nick Booth, as well as partnering with associations and soccer clubs like Newtown Pride, that will help demonstrate how to play this brilliant game, brilliantly. Through these partnerships, we hope the community comes together to grow the love for soccer in Newtown. We sincerely hope that the community comes out to support and watch these games."
Newtown Pride FC has raised more than $15,000 for Newtown Youth & Family Services over the past four years to ensure adequate needs of the community are being met.
