24th Newtown Health And Safety Fair Is September 16
Where can you get dozens of health and safety-related giveaways that can help protect you and your loved ones, meet local health and wellness professionals, learn more about local public safety agencies, and get access to a number of free and low-cost health screenings that can help you prevent or mitigate the onset of various debilitating conditions?The Newtown Bee.
The answer to all those questions and more will be available for visitors to the 24th Annual Newtown Health and Public Safety Fair.
Organizers Mae Schmidle, Della Schmid, and Health District Director Donna Culbert have announced that this year's Health Fair will be at the Reed Intermediate School and will be sharing the Saturday, September 16, event date with this year's Newtown Arts Festival, which will be right across the street at Fairfield Hills.
"Of course, the planners are as excited as ever about all the free health screenings, free information and advice and all the free giveaways," Ms Culbert toldÃÂ
Residents should come to the Reed Intermediate School cafetorium on September 16 between 9 am and 1 pmÃÂ for the all-free four-hour event.
"Residents can drop by for a quick visit or stay for as long as they like," Ms Culbert said. "There are numerous free drawings, gift certificates to many of Newtown's restaurants and eateries to honor Family Day, and promotions from many of our local businesses."
Across the entire exhibit floor at this year's Health and Safety Fair, residents can experience interactive demonstrations and wellness treatments.
To date, free health screenings scheduled to be offered include skin cancer screening; vision screening; posture and balance assessment; cholesterol, lipid profile, blood sugar, blood pressure and BMI screening; body composition analysis; and diabetes risk screening.
In addition, Bethel VNA with support from Newtown VNA will be providing flu shots at the Health Fair.
