Ada Levette
Deacon Ada Levette, 80, of Trumbull, formerly a 50-year resident of Bridgeport, died September 4 at St Joseph’s Manor, Trumbull, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Tallahassee, Fla., she was the daughter of Robert P. and Betty Doyle Baker.
She was employed as a psychiatric aide at the former Fairfield Hills Hospital, Newtown, for 27 years.
Her spiritual needs were met as a disciple of First Baptist Church of Stratford where she served as a deacon, member of the Loyal Workers, Senior Choir, the Prison Ministry, the ministry serving the bereaved, and Sunday School teacher. Outside the church she served in the Fairfield County Christian Women’s Club.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Kathy Levette of Georgia and Marcie, and her husband Deacon Howard Thompson, of Bridgeport; a sister, Betty Ellison; three grandchildren, Natasha, Howard III, and DJ; and several nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, her husband, Deacon Clarence “Curley” Levette; a brother, Robert P. Baker, Jr; and two sisters, Ophelia Smith and Amy Morris, predeceased her.
Funeral services took place September 8. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Avenue, Bridgeport.
