Osteoporosis Treatment Option Available
NEW MILFORD â Osteoporosis is a disease that causes bones in the spine to weaken and often collapse, resulting in spinal fractures. Traditional treatment for spinal fractures includes bed rest, medication, and back bracing.
While these therapies may help decrease the pain, they do not treat deformity from osteoporotic fractures. On Monday, September 18, at 6:15 pm, at New Milford Hospital, orthopedic surgeon Mitchell S. Garden, MD, will provide a talk entitled âNew Treatment Options for Osteoporosis & Spinal Fractures.â
Join Dr Garden as he discusses balloon kyphoplasty, a minimally invasive treatment designed to eliminate the debilitating pain and complications caused by osteoporotic compression spinal fractures as well as address deformity, which was featured in a recent edition of The Newtown Bee.
This procedure is available now at New Milford Hospital.
Dr Garden also plans to discusses causes, symptoms, and diagnosing osteoporosis. A free osteoporosis risk evaluation is available prior to the presentation.
This program is free and open to the public and will be held in the hospitalâs Robison Conference Rooms. Refreshments will be served, but preregistration is requested by calling 860-350-7215.
