Genealogy Club Meeting Notice
Are you descended from Charlemagne? If youâve got any European ancestry, you probably are. The trick is in proving the linkage.
The Genealogy Club of Newtown will open its series of fall meetings on September 13 with a talk by Timothy Beard entitled, âThe Long Road to Charlemagne and Beyond to the Merovingians.â
Mr Beard, a Roxbury resident, is a Fellow of the American Society of Genealogists. For many years he was librarian in the New York Public Library and then at Minor Memorial Library in Roxbury.
He is a member of many lineage societies including the Sons of the American Revolution, the Baronial Order of the Magna Charta, and the Military Order of the Crusades. Most pertinent to this talk he has served as president of the National Society of Americans of Royal Descent and of the Order of the Crown of Charlemagne in the United States. Also, he is the founder and first president of the Order of the Merovingian Dynasty.
The Genealogy Club meets on the second Wednesday of each month in the meeting room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street. The meeting and program will start at 7 pm.
