Edith E. Kinivil, 95, formerly of Newtown, died September 5 in the Lutheran Home, Southbury. She was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., on April 7, 1911, a daughter of August and Emma (Schrull) Goglin.
Mrs Kinivil was a longtime resident of Stratford and was employed at Nadeauâs restaurant for many years. She then moved to Bethel where she was part owner and manager of the King Lake Restaurant. In 1977, she moved to Newtown where she was one of the original residents of Nunnawauk Meadows.
Mrs Kinivil was a longtime active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Brookfield. Over the years, she served on many church committees and was a member of the 60 Plus Club.
A daughter, Margaret Greenman of Southbury; a brother, William Goglin of Seabring, Fla.; a sister, Gloria Trede of Southbury; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews survive Mrs Kinivil. A son, John Kinivil, predeceased her.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Friday, September 8, in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Route 133, Brookfield. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Stratford. There are no calling hours.
