Rocking Roosters Square Dance Club of Newtown is planning an “Introduction to Modern Square Dancing” series.

The first two sessions are being offered at no charge.

Two left feet? No worries, say the club’s members. Square dancing is just walking to music.

Members of the longstanding club invite singles and couples of all ages to join them for the two free introductory sessions scheduled for Tuesdays, September 14 and 21, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 85 Mt Pleasant Road, from 7:30 to 9 pm.

No square dance experience is necessary, say organizers. Guests will learn as they dance while having fun, meeting new people, laughing, enjoying good music, and getting great exercise for mind and body.

For those interested, the classes will continue another 18 weeks. Cost is $5 per lesson after September 21.

Those planning to attend must have been vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination will be required.
