Tractors Take The Lead On Labor Day

Determined to not let Labor Day pass without a parade, a “reverse parade” of tractors was organized, reportedly by Rob Emmerthal, to the amusement of spectators along Newtown’s Main Street, Monday morning, September 7.

Approximately a dozen tractors of all shapes and ages lined up in front of Edmond Town Hall before 9 am, with interested passersby stopping to take a look. Several of the tractors headed south on Main Street later in the morning — in the lead for once, not the usual rear guards of the traditional Labor Day Parade that was canceled this year, due to coronavirus concerns about bringing together large numbers of people.

Clearly, a few hardy parade-goers were happy to have at least some celebration of the day honoring workers!

While not the thousands that usually line Main Street on Labor Day, a few spectators were on hand to greet the unofficial parade that morning — tractors in a “reverse parade.”
