'The Bear Reality' To Be Presented During Horticulture Club Meeting
On Thursday, September 13, at 7 pm, The Horticulture Club of Newtown will host Felicia Ortner, a Connecticut Master Wildlife Conservationist (MWC) and a bear enthusiast, as the guest speaker of the club.
Ms Ortner will provide education and facts about bears and help dispel myths and common misunderstandings.
Ms Ortner has been studying about bears for over 30 years. In the mid 1990s she turned her passion for learning about bears into a passion for teaching about them, and created an education program called “The Bear Reality.”
The main focus of the discussion on September 13 will be about bears, with additional information about other species and Connecticut natural history also included.
Ms Ortner is reportedly the only one in the state that offers this interesting program. The presentation will be followed by a Q&Q, and she promises guests will not be disappointed.
The meeting will take place at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street.
A $5 donation is requested from non-members.
