Harriman-Stites Endorsed By Connecticut Independent Party
The Connecticut Independent Party has announced its endorsement of Rebekah Harriman-Stites, Newtown’s Democratic candidate running for state representative in the town’s 106th House District.
“I am committed to being an independent voice for Newtown, and I think that message resonates with the Connecticut Independent Party and the residents of Newtown,” Ms Harriman-Stites said in a release.
The Connecticut Independent Party is the third largest political party in the state and is dedicated to ensuring open, honest government.
With the support of the Independent Party, Ms Harriman-Stites is now is cross-endorsed for the November election, and her name will appear in three places on the ballot: On the Independent Party line, the Democratic Party line, and the Working Families Party line.
Ms Harriman-Stites has been a Newtown resident for 17 years.
With priorities including strong schools, economic growth, transparent governing, and progress through collaboration, Ms Harriman-Stites is committed to moving Newtown forward. She serves on the Newtown Board of Education.
Ms Harriman-Stites said, “We need to change the direction our state is headed. Our campaign is growing every day because voters want someone who will work across party lines to get things done for the middle class and fix our fiscal mess. I look forward to continuing to listen to what the residents of Newtown want in their State Representative.”
