Program For Teen Girls, Support Groups
At Womenâs Center
DANBURY â The Womenâs Center is taking registrations now for âProject Be: Be Strong, Be Amazing, Be You.â
The Womenâs Center provides free and confidential services to prevent or lessen the trauma associated with domestic violence, sexual assault, and other major life transitions to thousands of women, children, and men annually. The programs of the Womenâs Center are supported by state and local government, area United Way agencies and the people and businesses in the communities it serves, including Newtown.
The free seven-week âProject Beâ program provides facilitated support and educational groups for area girls ages 11â12 and 13â15. Topics handled during the program will include improving self-esteem, body image and the media, healthy relationships, and bullying.
Graduates of the âProject Beâ program will be invited back for exclusive events throughout the year in order to strengthen relationships and awareness of issues young women are facing.
The new weekly groups begin on Wednesday, September 26, 6 to 7:30 pm, at 8 West Street. Registration is required; call Amy at 203-731-5200, extension 213, or e-mail wcchildadvocate@yahoo.com to register or for more information.
