Too Many Accomplishments
For One Poster
To the Editor:
The bus highlighting Herb Rosenthal and Joe Bojnowskiâs accomplishments at the Labor Day Parade could only say so much. What they have accomplished these past ten years is too much to put on a poster.
One of the areas that they have really been strong in is acquiring open space. Their campaign slogan has spoke about preserving the character of Newtown, and preserving this open space is one of the many ways in which they have done this.
Pockets of open space, in all sizes, has been preserved in all areas of Newtown. From Pole Bridge to High Rock, from Shepard Trail to Laurelâs Trail on Lake Zoar, over 1,000 acres of land has been preserved since they entered office ten years ago.
In addition, they were able to create the new conservation commission. This group, which started as the Open Space Task Force, created a list of all open space over ten acres. They then sent a letter to owners of the land, asking them to contact the town if they are thinking of selling. This would allow the town to consider the acquisition of more open space.
Herb and Joe really have done a lot for this town, and it would be great for Newtown if these two dedicated, hardworking men got the opportunity to continue serving the town they love. I hope you will vote for them this November.
Sincerely,
Jay Gill
