Still Life In Oil At Next SCAN Meeting

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have Janice Papayani of Highland Beach, Fla., painting in oil using a still life for her subject matter at its next meeting on Wednesday, September 12, at 7:30 pm. This demonstration will take place at Newtown Meeting House on Main Street (at the flagpole), in the lower meeting room. The public is invited to attend, free of charge.

Ms Papayani is a former resident of Newtown and long time member of SCAN and was a member of the SCAN board for some time, before she moved to Florida in 1997. Many will remember her fine demonstrations for SCAN in those years.

Ms Papayani is a graduate of the Pratt Institute of Art in New York City. She worked professionally in the art field in New York for another five years before coming to Connecticut. Her style of painting has been developed over many years. She was influenced by many fine artists as teachers. Even though she is strictly a realistic painter she likes to explore the subject matter, using her design sense to mold the resulting painting.

Ms Papayani has exhibited widely and received many awards during her years in Florida including Best in Show at the Palm Beach Watercolor Society.
