Middle Gate Marchers A Group Effort

To the Editor:

I would like to thank the many people who helped make the Labor Day Parade a success for Middle Gate Elementary School’s marchers. It was a true group effort.

First, a huge thank you goes out to Jan Steinfeld of Executive Lawn Maintenance and Landscaping. He not only let us use his truck and trailer to pull our float, a replica of the original Middle Gate School, but also provided enthusiasm and creative ideas. Chris Yitts and Cailin Goldey drove the truck and gave us a lot of help and support, and I am very grateful to them, too.

I’d also like to thank Desiree Galassi and Heather Smith for their encouragement and advice.

Thank you also to Melissa Della Corte, Heather Smith, and Lisa Wallace for having the Middle Gate Girl Scouts march with us. Your knowledge of past parades was a huge help, too.

The marchers were also lucky to have so many wonderful fans lining the streets cheering us on. That support was greatly appreciated.

And, of course, the parents and grandparents of the marchers deserve a huge thanks, too. They helped in every possible way before and during the parade — decorating the float, helping with the banner, guiding the children, and so much more.

I would also like to thank the Middle Gate students who came out to march — you showed Newtown what a wonderful school we are!

Sincerely,

Sarah Hoffert
