Another Great Labor Day Parade
Another Great Labor Day Parade
Dear Parade-lovers:
Another Labor Day Parade in Newtown is in the books and from all accounts, paradegoers had a ball at our townâs annual three-hour party.
The weather was perfect as we celebrated our libraryâs 75th birthday and saluted Judge William Lavery, who has risen to the top of our judicial system while at the same giving so much of himself here at home.
We thank him and so many others involved in the parade for making the 2007 march such a hit. Thanks to all of those who came out and supported this event. After all, itâs the spirit of the people both in the parade and those who come out to cheer that make it so special.
And rest assured we are already thinking about next yearâs parade.
There is a great deal of work that goes into putting on the parade and special thanks to the LDP committee for all you do.
Also, thanks to those who made donations to the parade, especially our parade sponsors Dr Joshua Baum ($3,000), Newtown Savings Bank ($1,500) and Stratton-Faxon ($1,500). The parade costs an average of $24,000 and none of that comes from taxpayers. It all comes from people like you who embody what the parade is all about.
Special thanks also to: The Newtown Bee, The Newtown Police, My Place Pizza, Dunkinâ Donuts, Bagel Delight; our wonderful emcees, Mike Giarratano, Mary Ann Murtha, John Klopfenstein, and Nancy Koch; Lexington Gardens, Hometown PublishingâSteve Bigham, Newtown Highway Department, Honan Funeral Home, Newtown Ambulance, Newtown Exxon, John Pantan Lawn and Landscape, and finally the parade committee members: Brian Amey, Beth Caldwell, Diana Baxter, Steve Bigham, Dan Cruson, Ann Marie Deweese, and Mike Lescik.
See you next year.
