A Fun Way To Spend
Labor Day Morning
To the Editor:
What an honor it was to have the Cyrenius H. Booth Libraryâs Diamond Jubilee celebrated by the whole town at the Labor Day Parade! It was a great opportunity for the Libraryâs Board of Trustees to show our support for Grand Marshal and Board President Bill Lavery; and Library Director Janet Woycik, her staff, and her young adult patrons.
The Trustees owe our thanks to McLaughlin Vineyards: owner Bruce McLaughlin for allowing us to use his tractor and trailer; manager Frank Carbone for arranging the loan of the equipment; and mechanic Tony Macri for his instructions on running the tractor.
The Trustees would never have been able to step off in the parade without the skillful driving and technical know-how of our dedicated volunteer driver, Scot Wilson.
Of course, our float would have lacked some crowd appeal if it werenât for the lively music provided by the Bluegrass band XXXIInd Time Out.
Thanks to the Parade Committee for making the library the theme of the parade and allowing all library marchers to walk together!
Finally we wish to thank Mary Maki, president of the Friends of Booth Library, and her book sorters for marching with us and providing financial, material, and moral support.
We hope for continued community support during our 75th year!
Sincerely,
Jennifer Reilly
