9/11 Ceremony Planned In Dodgingtown

A Commemorative Ceremony to honor persons who died during the destructive terrorist attack, September 11, 2001, will be conducted Saturday, September 8, at the residence of Mr and Mrs Howard Lasher, on Route 302 in the Dodgingtown section of Newtown.

The program will be conducted by Art Sheehan of the Greater Danbury Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association and will get underway promptly at 8 am. “The Star Spangled Banner” will be presented by Gary Sheehan, followed by greetings from state and local dignitaries, including Gov M. Jodi Rell.

A moment of silence will be observed at exactly 8:46 am, the time at which the first airliner struck the World Trade Center six years ago, followed by ten tolls of the fire bell in honor of ten associates who perished that day known personally to Mr Howard. The ceremony will include citations and remembrances from state and local leaders of all who died in the 9/11 attack.

The public is invited and especially welcome will be family members or friends who may have lost loved ones on that infamous morning. The ceremony will be held in front of the American flag-painted trees visible from Route 302, at the entrance of the Lasher property. Limited parking is available.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be postponed to Monday, September 10.
