Town Players Of Newtown Rehearsing First Musical
Is There Life After High School? is a “memory musical.” The cast plays various characters remembering the joy, the laughter, and the pain of what it was like to go through high school.
Charming, funny, touching, and likable, it’s a musical that wins its way by being so enjoyable. Somehow it touches a common chord; audiences can relate to it, and to the gallery of characters that inhabit it, as they look back on their high school days from ten to twenty years ago.
Town Players of Newtown will stage a production of the musical — the first musical in the local theater company’s 80-plus-year history — this season. Performances are planned for Friday and Saturday evenings, September 27 through October 19.
Sunday afternoon matinees are scheduled for October 6 and 13, and one Thursday evening performance is planned for October 17.
Brian DeToma has assembled an ensemble cast that includes Stefanie Rosenberg, Amy Strachan, Simone Matuvenice, Emily Volpinesta, Mike Armstrong, Joshua Adelson, Zachary Theis, and Steven Schmidt.
Terry Polvay and Ella Jurgielewicz are serving as the musical’s producers. Stage manager is Nicole Veach, musical director is Noelle Veillette, musical consultant is Grant Ossenayer, and lighting designer is Nick Kaye.
Tickets are $30 for the evening shows, $25 for the matinees, with discounts for students and senior citizens. Curtain is 8 pm for evenings and 2 pm for matinees.
Town Players of Newtown perform at The Little Theatre, 18 Orchard Hill Road.
