To the Editor:

Next Tuesday, I will be voting for Mary Ann Jacob in the Republican Primary for first selectman. And here's why: As you all know, Mary Ann has been involved in our local government for many years now, and being a neighbor of mine for 20 years, she has borne the brunt of my numerous queries and yes, complaints, regarding our local government and school system.

I might recall a time or two that we would disagree, but there was never a time when Mary Ann was not able to answer and explain in deep detail the whys and the hows of my questions, whether it was a school issue, or a government one. I believe one would be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable and articulate candidate than Mary Ann. However, the one quality that stands out when speaking to Mary Ann is you feel like you're the most important person in the room at that time. Mary Ann talks to you, not at you, and that is a rare quality in a politician these days.

I don't doubt that Will Rodgers would do a fine job as first selectman. I have no doubt that Mary Ann Jacob will do a fantastic job as Newtown's first selectman. Please join me in voting next Tuesday.
