Thank You, Newtown!
To the Editor:
Thank you for lugging heavy bags of food donations with you to The Labor Day Parade! We know it wasn’t easy in the overbearing heat, but you filled the beds of two pickup trucks. These donations have already made a huge difference at the pantry — the shelves are restocked, and the donations are already getting in the hands of the people who need it the most.
Thank you for your generous cash donations; we collected over $2,000. This money will help us purchase the items we need to buy on a weekly basis: meat, milk, eggs, etc.
To Melissa, Meredith, and all the other members of the Newtown Labor Day Parade Committee — great job, as always. Thank you for your patience, vision, and hard work.
Our job collecting food on the route was made 100 percent easier due to the Newtown High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team. A huge thanks to all volunteering their time to help collect donations along the parade route.
Thank you to the many FAITH volunteers and friends that helped us plan, execute our plan, and collect donations. We couldn’t have done this without you.
To Matt Iseppi, Kristen Angell, Jim and Sue Shpunt — thank you for donating and decorating your trucks, for your time, and for helping us unload all the food at the end of the parade. We appreciate it more than we can say.
And lastly, to The Newtown Bee, and the Smith and Baggett families, FAITH cannot thank you enough for your ongoing support. You make such a difference in our community that we are so lucky to be part of.
See you next Labor Day!
