Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company and Big Buddha Cigar Lounge will co-host a Community Craft & Tag Sale on Sunday, September 14, from 9 am to 4 pm. The event will be presented at the firehouse at 34 Hawleyville Road.

While previously announced as taking place at both locations, organizers have decided to present everything at the fire station and its property in order to alleviate the need to pedestrian traffic crossing Route 25.

Hawleyville Fire members will be grilling food, and also offering drinks for purchase.

Children’s entertainment will include fire truck demonstrations and face painting. Crafters and vendors will have booths set up, offering myriad items.

It is the second time the Community Craft & Tag Sale is being presented. The event is being presented by The Stony Hill Four Corners (SH4C) Association, which is made up of businesses in Newtown and Bethel within the area of I-84 Exits 8 and 9, including Stony Hill Road in Bethel and Mt Pleasant Road and Hawleyville Road in Newtown.

Bryan Roth, the owner of Big Buddha Cigar Lounge in Hawleyville, is credited with the idea of the community event introduced last year.

Madeline Bunt, of Union Savings, a SH4C member business, said the inaugural event “went very well. We are ready to be bigger and even better this year.

“With Sandy Hook Four Corners, it’s all about giving back,” Ms Bunt added, pointing out that proceeds from the event will benefit Hawleyville Fire Company.

“All of our events are community based,” added Terry Laslo, of Wingcat Web Design, based in Hawleyville.

Crafters and vendors are still invited to reserve a space for the event. Spaces are 10 by 10 feet, and are $25 each; all fees will also benefit Hawleyville Fire Company.

For additional information or to reserve a table space, send e-mail to StonyHillFourCorners@gmail.com.

The mission of SHFC is to create a greater awareness of what the businesses in the area have to offer, while also creating ways for those businesses to give back to the community. Businesses interested in learning more can contact StonyHillFourCorners@gmail.com or visit StonyHillFourCorners.com.
