Planning For Annual Breast Cancer Walk

TRUMBULL –– Newtown resident Bec Meyer, a breast cancer survivor, was the guest speaker at the recent American Cancer Society kickoff breakfast for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.

Approximately 130 persons attended the event held at the Trumbull Marriott to learn more about how they can be involved in one of the largest walks in southwestern Connecticut.

The American Cancer Society hopes to raise more than $400,000 to fund local breast cancer education and patient service programs throughout southwestern Connecticut. In addition, the money raised at Strides will help fund American Cancer Society-approved breast cancer researchers in their quest to find a cure.

The five-mile Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk begins and ends at Sherwood Island State Park on Sunday, October 19. Registration begins at 9 am and the walk officially begins at 11 am. For more information about the walk or to find out how to volunteer, call the American Cancer Society at 800-ACS-2345.
