Missing Boy Found On Woodchip Pile
Police conducted a brief search in the early morning darkness of Friday, August 29, after learning that a 3-year-old boy was missing from his Hawleyville Road home in Hawleyville.
Police said the unidentified boy was located about 20 minutes after he was reported missing.
Police said the boyâs parents awoke at about 5:20 am and could not find the boy in their house. The parents called police, who arrived and searched for the boy, finding him in his backyard, sleeping atop a pile of woodchips.
Hawleyville firefighters were dispatched to the incident to provide manpower for a search, but that call was cancelled four minutes later, after the boy was found.
The Newtown Ambulance Corps went to the scene and checked the boy, finding him to be uninjured.
Police said the boy apparently awoke during the night and walked out of his house. It is unclear how long the boy was outside his house before his parents discovered his disappearance.
No charges are being filed in the case, police said.
