Friday Night Jazz Series Returns Sept. 14

DANBURY — On Friday, September 14, at 8 pm, the great Jimmy Heath will bring his quartet to Wooster School to kick off a new season of Wooster Friday Night Jazz Society.

Mr Heath is a be-bop original and has played with Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Milt Jackson, Freddie Hubbard and many more. For jazz lovers of all ages, this is a can’t-miss event, and a rare opportunity to hear Mr Heath in the kind of intimate setting for which the Wooster Jazz Society has become known.

Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the door. Performances are presented on Friday evenings in the Schwartz Reception Center on the Wooster School campus on Ridgebury Road. Seating capacity is limited, so reservations are encouraged; call 203-830-3963 or 203-830-3964.

Additional concerts in the series this year will be as follows: October 19, Joanne Brackeen Trio; November 16, Steve Turre Quintet; January 18, Cecil Brooks III Organ Quintet; February 8, Eric Alexander Quartet featuring Harold Mabern; March 1, Brian Lynch Latin Quintet; April 12, Michael Weiss Septet; and May 10, Lynne Arriale Trio.
