A New Season For Newtown Scottish Dancers
A New Season For Newtown Scottish Dancers
Newtown Scottish Country Dancers begin a new season on Monday, September 17, at 7 pm, at Hawley School, 29 Church Hill Road in Newtown. The group meets in the schoolâs old gym. Entry is from the parking lot near the back of the original building.
Under the umbrella of Newtown Parks and Recreation, the group has met for more than 20 years. Dancing is weekly from September through May except on holidays or if school is cancelled.
The group is affiliated with the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society in Edinburgh, Scotland. Ernie Harrington, the groupâs teacher, is certified by the RSCDS.
All dances are taught and beginners are always welcome. Soft-soled shoes are recommended. Partners are not required.
Scottish country dancing is an enjoyable activity for singles, couples, the young and the young-at-heart who share a love for the romance of Scottish culture.
