Winterset Ski Club Plans A Party

Winterset Ski Club will host its annual picnic on Sunday, September 17, at Hop Brook Lake Park in Middlebury. The Newtown-based club will provide the drinks, hamburgers, hot dogs, and rolls; those who wish to attend are being asked to bring an appetizer, salad, or dessert to share.

The picnic will begin at 1 pm, with lunch to start around 2:30. The picnic is meant to be a pre-season get-together for members, as well as a member-meeting opportunity for non-members. Information about the club itself will also be shared.

Information about this year’s ski trips and bus trips will be presented during the afternoon. Ski trip signups as well as club registrations will also be available at the picnic. Members will be able to sign up for any of the trips they are interested in, including a new Canada five-night trip being planned for February.

The club will set up horseshoes and bocce, water balloons and children’s games. Hop Brook has a beach and swimming area. In the event of rain, the picnic area has shelters.

Anyone interested in attending is asked to contact Linda Vitrella, 270-0431, or Chris Lincoln, 426-8726, to discuss appetizer, salad, and dessert options for the afternoon.

Hop Brook Lake is on Route 63 in Middlebury, just below the intersection with Route 188 and near the Naugatuck border; use Exit 17 off I-84. The Winterset picnic will be in the “Pines Shelter” section of the park.
