MV Charges

Police report they lodged three motor vehicle charges against a local man August 30.

Police said they observed motorist Edward Moroney, 39, of 4 Cherry Street, Sandy Hook, driving a 1987 Pontiac on Riverside Road with marker plates which belonged on another vehicle.

Police charged Moroney with misuse of marker plates, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and failure to have automotive insurance.

Moroney is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court September 14 to answer the charges.

Three Violations

Police said they charged Charles Denninger, 22, of 5 Baldwin Road with three motor vehicle violations about 3:40 pm September 1 at the intersection of Currituck Road and Main Street.

Police charged Denninger with operating a motor vehicle while under suspension, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and failure to have automotive insurance.

Police released Denninger on bond for a September 14 court appearance.

Assault

 Police charged a local girl with third-degree assault following an incident early on the morning of September 3.

Police said they charged Jillian Tomasulo, 18, of 10 Pheasant Ridge Road for allegedly striking a 17-year-old girl in the face while the girl was at a party at Tomasulo’s house.

Police released Tomasulo on a promise to appear in court September 14.

Auto Theft

Police report that sometime during the early morning hours of September 3, someone stole a Greenbriar Lane man’s 1992 Honda Accord from his driveway. Police ask anyone with information on the theft to contact them.

Sideswiped

Police said a local woman noticed that her 1995 Volkswagen Jetta, which had been parked on Lake Drive near Center Street in Riverside, had been sideswiped sometime between 3 pm August 26 and 11 am August 27. Police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact them.

Vandalism/Theft

State police report that a New Milford man discovered about 7 am September 3 that his vehicle, which was parked at the Interstate-84 Exit 11 commuter parking lot on Mile Hill Road, had been broken into overnight. The driver’s side window had been broken and an AM/FM radio-cassette tape player had been stolen. State police are investigating.

MV Violation

State police said they saw motorist Robert Dipple, 26, of 41 Cherry Street, Sandy Hook, driving without a seatbelt on about 1:30 am August 31 near Exit 9 of Interstate-84. State police said they stopped Dipple and charged him with operating a motor vehicle while under suspension.

Dipple was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.

Ford Vs Buick

State police report that motorist Edward J. Provencal, 55, of Ware, Mass., was driving a 1999 Buick Century in the rain in the left westbound lane of Interstate-84 about 3 pm September 2 and was slowing for traffic, when the Buick was struck from behind by motorist Elizabeth Fazio, 40, of Danbury, who was driving a 1992 Ford Aerostar minivan. There were no injuries. State police said Fazio was traveling unreasonably fast.

Berkshire Burglary

Police report that sometime between 9:30 am and 3 pm September 5, someone entered a Berkshire Road home and stole a computer, printer, DVD player, and several DVDs. The total value of the items stolen in the burglary/larceny is approximately $2,800.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 426-5841.

Dodgingtown Crash

Police report a two-car accident at the intersection of Route 302 and Hattertown Road in Dodgingtown about 1 pm September 2.

Motorist Jameshed Chowdhury, 20, of 35 Mt Pleasant Road, who was driving a 1998 Ford Mustang, was headed westbound on Route 302 when he approached the intersection and braked, slid on the wet roadway, and spun into the eastbound lane, striking an eastbound 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Michael Watson, 34, of Unit 43, 55 Sugar Street, police said. The Chevrolet skidded off the road and struck a sign, police said. There were no injuries.

Police issued Chowdhury a written warning for failure to drive to the right on a curve. Police issued Watson a verbal warning for failure to renew a motor vehicle registration.

Bicycle Theft

Police report they charged a 14-year-old area boy with sixth-degree larceny and third-degree criminal mischief in connection with the theft of a bicycle September 5 from Shady Rest.

Police said they recovered the damaged bicycle. The youth, whom police did not identify because of his age, is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court September 14.

DWI Charge

Police report they observed motorist John W. Velsor, 53, of Wallingford crossing over the road’s center line while driving westbound on Riverside Road September 6.

Police said they stopped Velsor and performed field sobriety tests which he failed. Police charged him with driving while intoxicated and failure to drive to the right.

After processing, police released Velsor on a promise to appear September 20 in Danbury Superior Court.
