An Experience In Excellence
An Experience In Excellence
To the Editor:
For nineteen years I have billed the Newtown Labor Day Parade as something akin to walking into a Norman Rockwell painting. When we moved here in September of 1981, we left our unpacking chores long enough to attend our first parade. This year our son, Mac, brought his children home to watch their first Newtown Labor Day Parade.
Mac drove in the parade with me (in the Nardociâs little red MGB) for the Newtown Friends of Music. As we waited to enter the parade route, I told him about the delegation from the United Nations, which came this year to enjoy a typically American holiday experience. As we drove toward the flagpole on Main Street, a scene filled with families, balloons, candy, and excitement, he turned to me and said, âMom, this is no typically American experience. This is an experience in excellence.â
I am in complete agreement.
