Residents Invited To Kid's Day of Service With Sandy Hook Peaceful Arts, Whole Foods Market
Whole Foods Market locations in Danbury, Fairfield and Westport will host a Kids’ Day of Service Volunteer Initiative in conjunction with Sandy Hook Peaceful Arts on Saturday, September 7. Local residents of all ages are invited to create peace flags at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street in Newtown. Sandy Hook Peaceful Arts is a non-profit organization that provides opportunities for the community to collaborate, create, express and experience the arts under the guidance of teaching artists. The organization also engages in and provides educational opportunities in peaceful practices to enhance overall well-being. Volunteers will have the opportunity to create various peace flags that will be centered around expressing gratitude and sharing peace.
Peace flags created will be shared with local first responders, organizations, businesses, and individuals in Newtown and the surrounding communities who have fostered healing and peace.
Participants will also engage in discussions about expressing gratitude and what it means to cultivate peace.
The event will run from 11 am until 1 pm, and will include a free lunch served at 12:30.

In addition, participants are being asked to bring a non-perishable donation for one of Newtown’s food banks. Items collected during the event will be divided between the Salvation Army Food Bank at Newtown Social Services and FAITH Food Pantry.
