September Love & Knishes Lunches
SOUTHBURY â The public is invited to make reservations for lunch and entertainment at the noontime Love & Knishes Lunch Program sponsored by The Federation-Jewish Communities of Western Connecticut.
All programs take place on Tuesdays in the social hall at the Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus, 444 Main Street North. The freshly prepared lunch by Chef Nancy Stokes is served at noon and programs start at 1 pm.
On September 7, tenor Larry Batter returns to play piano and sing popular, show, Yiddish, and jazz songs and tell stories and jokes.
On September 14, âAutumn Memoriesâ will be a time for people to share stories and reminiscences of school, work, holidays, growing up in New York, or whatever else they remember as the season starts to change.
The September 21 program features the group Music From the Heart with pianist Ethel Kaufman and vocalist Al Grammatico, who perform everything from Yiddish favorites to Broadway melodies.
Then back by popular demand on September 28 will be the singer-guitarist Kayte Devlin Batter, playing cabaret and show tunes.
Reservations must be made by Thursday for the following weekâs program. There is a suggested donation of $5.50 for seniors and $8 for those under age 60. To RSVP, call Debby Horowitz at 267-3177, ext 105. Love & Knishes is sponsored by The Homesteads at Newtown, LLC.
