Guild Artists Expressing ‘Political Persuasions’

At Silvermine

NEW CANAAN — “Political Persuasions: Left, Right & Center,” a new multi-media group exhibition in Silvermine Galleries, will open with a public reception on Friday, September 10, from 7 to 9 pm, and then remain on view through October 10. The Silvermine Guild’s over 300 artists were invited to participate in the show as an opportunity to express their personal opinions on the state of the country, politics and the upcoming election.

“This is sure to be a provocative, controversial show,” says Gallery Director Helen Klisser During, “and the views expressed by individual artists do not necessarily represent the views of the Silvermine Guild Arts Center management or trustees.”

“We decided to seize the moment,” said Silvermine Executive Director Cindy Clair. “We’re celebrating freedom of expression. It’s a particular time in our nation’s history when everyone has an opinion, and artists have never been shy about voicing their opinions visually.”

“Political Persuasions” will be complemented by dynamic one-artist shows featuring works by Judith Steinberg of Stamford and Natasha Karpinskaia of Wilton, and Director’s Choice exhibits presenting works by Barbara Wilk of Westport and Barry Guthertz of Norwalk.

Located at 1037 Silvermine Road, Silvermine Galleries are open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm. For further information call 203-966-1517 or visit www.SilvermineArt.org.
