29th Annual Booth Library Labor Day Book Sale opens, 9 am–5 pm, Bridgeport Hall at Fairfield Hills, off Wasserman Way, admission $10 from 9 am to noon, then $5 from noon to 5 (free admission remainder of sale, which continues to September 8), over 160,000 books and records in 76 categories, also refreshments, proceeds benefit C.H. Booth Library; 426-2524, 426-3889.

NUMC Monthly Pasta Dinner, 5–7:30 pm, Newtown United Methodist Church’s Rauner Hall, 92 Church Hill Road, admission $8 adults, $7 seniors, $3.50 children, full spaghetti dinner includes salad, desserts, and soft drinks/coffee raises funds each month for church, all welcome, coffee house/musical event follows; 426-0617.

LABOR DAY

29th Annual Booth Library Labor Day Book Sale continues, 9 am–5 pm, Bridgeport Hall at Fairfield Hills, off Wasserman Way, all items half price, see September 4 for additional details.

43rd Annual Newtown Labor Day Parade, step-off at 10 am, Gordon Marshall will serve as Grand Marshal for parade that will go from Soldiers’ & Sailors’ Monument along Main Street, turns onto Glover Avenue, then onto Queen Street, featuring marching bands, local clubs and organizations, politicians and invited guests, and others.

Tuesday, September 7

Organic Farmers’ Market, 9 am–2 pm, Sandy Hook Center (behind St John’s Episcopal Church), Washington Avenue, organic farm produce, baked goods, crafts, pony rides, café, continues Tuesdays through October.
