Longtime Trumbull Educator
Leonard J. Germano, 75, of Trumbull, died August 29, at St Vincentâs Medical Center. Born November 17, 1935, he was the son of Rose and Dominic Germano.
Mr Germano is survived by his loving his wife, Ann; two daughters, including Mary Ellen Germano of Newtown; his cousins and their families; his in-laws, the McGann families; as well as many friends.
He spent his entire career in the Trumbull Public School system, first as a teacher, then as coordinator of Distributive Education, assistant principal, âCâ House principal, associate principal, and director of Continuing Education. At Trumbull High School he was a cross country and track coach, the first yearbook advisor, and a member of the Trumbull Boosters Club. Mr Germano is remembered by teachers and former students as a mentor who guided them through their early years. He loved all sports, and enjoyed his affiliation with the FCIAC Board of Directors.
Mr Germano also served as president of the Trumbull Exchange Club; and was treasurer of the Trumbull Rotary Club at the time of his death, after previously serving as president and district assistant governor. He will be greatly missed, and fondly remembered, by his family and his many friends.
Funeral services were scheduled for Friday, September 2, at 10 am, meeting directly at Grace Episcopal Church, 5958 Main Street, Trumbull. Interment will be private. Calling hours were scheduled for Thursday, September 1, from 3 to 7:30 pm, in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
