Hitting Academy

Newtown Parks & Recreation and Matt Memoli, Newtown High School’s baseball coach, offer a hitting academy which will run for six weeks during the fall. The academy is designed to get young hitters into solid work habits and develop proper hitting fundamentals.

Instruction will focus heavily on improving the athlete’s balance and bat speed. Each player’s swing will be broken down and analyzed by coaches, and players will participate in various hitting drills and stations, and take live batting practice every week.

The clinic will run six Sunday mornings, September 11 through October 16 from 9-11 am at the Newtown Middle School batting cage.
