Book Study On Simpler Living
WOODBURY âWoodbury United Methodist Church will offer a 12-week study of Simpler Living, Compassionate Life: a Christian Perspective on Tuesdays at 7 pm from September 20 to December 6. The public is invited. Participation is free, but there will be a charge for the book.
âWe invite anyone struggling to simplify his or her life amid complex situations, yearning for a more meaningful and compassionate life, or seeking to travel with others on this journey to join our group,â says WUMC member Patty Trippel, who will lead the group. Ms Trippel chairs WUMCâs Environmental Stewardship Committee.
Simpler Living by Michael Schut contains essays by contemporary thinkers including Henri Nouwen, Gerald May, Cecile Andrews, Wendell Berry, Alan Durning, and United Methodist pastor the Rev Evy McDonald. The book looks at issues such as eco-justice, overconsumption, simplicity in the Christian and American traditions, environmental theology, and the Western view of reality.
