Before the rush of Labor Day weekend, many families with young children sought out a relaxing afternoon at Dickinson Memorial Park, 50 Elm Drive, on August 31.

Annette Feinson and Liz Feinson were bookends on a blanket as sisters Olive, 3, and Autumn, 1, played with their pink ball. The family had lunch together under the shade of large trees and enjoyed the beautiful cool day.

Dickinson Memorial Park is open from 8 am to sundown, seven days a week. For more information about the park, visit [naviga:u]newtown-ct.gov/parks-recreation/pages/dickinson-park[/naviga:u].
