Proceeds will benefit Newtown Youth & Family Services.
A host of sponsors have lent their support â like The Newtown Prevention Counsel, Star 99.9 FM, Charter Communications, Poland Spring, Wild River, Danbury Hospital, Praxair, GE, Danbury Porsche-Audi-Volkswagen, New Balance, Anytime Fitness, Union Savings Bank, Chemtura, Dental Associates, Joseph A. Patrick Foundation and many others.
More than 500 runners participated last year and helped raised more than $25,000.
All individuals are welcome â runners, walkers and jogging strollers. All runners will be entered in a post race raffle and will receive goody bags and race t-shirts.
The scenic course in Newtown is certified by the USATF. The 5K is limited to 1,000 people. Pre-entry fee is $20 and on race day, $25. Pre-registration and packet pick up will be at New Balance, 83 Stony Hill Road, August 30 and 31, 11 am to 7 pm.
Race day registration will be from 7:30 to 8:30 pm with the race beginning at 9 am. For the Fun Run, kids pay their age up to $10.
Parking is available on site and at Taunton Press, 63 South Main Street. Race applications are available at 10 Glen Road, Sandy Hook, C.H. Booth Library, Union Savings Bank and online at www.newtownroadrace.com.
Newtown Youth & Family Services is the recently merged organization of Newtown Youth Services and Family Counseling Center. These well-respected, volunteer-driven agencies have been improving the quality of life in the greater Newtown area for a quarter of a century offering programs for positive youth development and support groups.
Their state-licensed counselors provide therapy to individuals, couples, families and groups. Newtown Youth and Family Services is a strong resource for children and families in the area whose mission is to help all citizens reach their potential.Â
