Squirrel Incident
Motorist Richard H. Lange, 53, of Brookfield was driving a 1997 Ford Ranger pickup truck westward on Route 34 in Sandy Hook about 2 pm August 22, when a squirrel ran from the left road shoulder onto the pavement, police report.
In a maneuver to avoid hitting the animal, Lange swerved and the truck went off the right road shoulder, striking several rocks and damaging the truck, police said.
Lange was not injured. Police verbally warned him for making a restricted turn.

Unknown Vehicle
Police report that at about 8 am August 24, a motorist, who was driving an unknown vehicle, was traveling westward near 7 Sugar Street, when the vehicle drove off the right road shoulder and struck two wooden guardposts. The motorist then left the scene. Police are investigating the incident and ask anyone with information on it to contact them at 426-5841 or 270-8888.
Acura Vs GMC
About 11:18 am August 22, motorist Manuel Alejandro, 21, of 52 Pond Brook Road was driving a 2000 Acura TL westward on Wasserman Way, as motorist Mitchell Falconer, 50, of 301 South Main Street was driving a 1988 GMC pickup truck eastward there, police report.
The Acura then attempted to make a left turn onto the Exit 11 on-ramp of Interstate 84, but cut in front of the approaching GMC, resulting in a collision, police said.
 There were no injuries. Alejandro received infractions for making a restricted turn and for driving without a license, police said.
