Robert K. Rout

IBM Employee For 40 Years

Robert K. Rout, 61, of Newtown, died August 28 in Danbury Hospital after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Mr Rout was the husband of Susan (Collins) Rout. He was born in Toronto, Canada, on January 1, 1946, a son of Robert F. and Lillian (Oades) Rout.

Mr Rout was employed for 40 years by IBM in Canada and the United States. He was an avid squash player.

In addition to his wife, Mr Rout is survived by two sons, Gregory R. Rout and his wife, Vicki, and Jason Miller and his wife, Colleen; a daughter, Sonja Rout and her husband, Michael Cox; and two granddaughters, Rebecca and Sarah Rout, all of Toronto; two brothers, Ronald of Toronto and William of Parry Sound, Ontario; six sisters, Joan Brown, Bev James, Doreen Young, and Irene Sheardown, all of Toronto, Florrie McGuirl of Hamilton, Ontario, and Sharon Briggs of Brampton, Ontario; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Friday, August 31, at 11 am, in the Alexandria Room of Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street. A reception will follow.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney Street, Boston MA 02115.

The Honan Funeral Home, Newtown, is assisting the family.
