Poking, Prodding,

And Asking Questions

To the Editor:

I read with interest The Bee’s recent article “Charter Plan Critiqued at Hearing.” I then wondered if the headline shouldn’t have read “Ruby Johnson Critiqued at Hearing” since the focus seemed to be more on her, in my opinion.

Well, thank goodness Newtown has people like Ruby Johnson. Thank you for continuing all these years to poke, prod, ask questions and seek answers. I would think that is also how you get information since things really are not always so transparent and can be interpreted many ways. The answers she appears to be given and how some of our government officials and appointees choose to respond to her tells us a lot about them.

I should have attended that meeting myself, I guess, but I was at another meeting at the Edmond Government Center. Sorry, I meant Edmond Town Hall. I guess I’ve been mixing that up with the proposed Fairfield Hills Government Center. Hey, isn’t that the same proposed new town hall so many don’t want? And didn’t our first selectman say he would build this even if it cost him the election?

And in the spirit of transparency, I must disclose that my husband, Gary, is running for Legislative Council in District 2 for the Independent Party of Newtown. I wish Ruby Johnson the best of luck in her campaign to also win a seat on the Legislative Council.

Sincerely,

Sherri Davis
