Drug Arrest
While on patrol on the night of August 23, police stopped a 17-year-old male motorist for illegally making a right turn on a red traffic signal at the intersection of Queen Street and Church Hill Road in the borough.
Police said that on investigating the violation, they spotted an amount of marijuana in plain sight within the vehicle that the youth was driving.
Police arrested the youth on charges of failure to obey a traffic control signal, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Following arrest processing, police released the boy for arraignment on the charges on September 7 in Danbury Youthful Offender Court. Because the youth is under age 18, the policeâs disclosure of his identity is prohibited by state law.
Parking Lot Fight
Police said they responded to a report of a fight in the parking lot at Rickyâs Shopping Center at 71 South Main Street at about 9:30 pm August 22.
John J. Neylan, 33, of Shelton and an ex-girlfriend were involved in a dispute which had become physical, police said. Police said they found Neylan to be in possession of a switchblade knife.
Police charged Neylan with carrying a dangerous weapon, second-degree threatening, breach of peace and violation of a protective order.
Police said they released Neylan on $100,000 bail for an appearance the following day in Danbury Superior Court.
Main Street Collision
Police report a two-vehicle accident on Main Street at the southern driveway entrance to the police station about 5 pm August 23.
Police said motorist Katie Rose Crevier, 18, of Scudder Road, who was driving a Jeep sport-utility vehicle, was traveling northward on Main Street and was attempting to make a left turn into that driveway, after a southbound motorist in a noncontact vehicle who was in a straight-ahead lane, had stopped to allow the Jeep to make the turn.
As the Jeep was turning left, it collided with motorist Michael Bajus, 45, of Stamford, who was driving a Volkswagen sedan in a southbound right-turn lane, police said.
The front bumper of the Jeep collided with the driverâs side of the Volkswagen, according to police. There were no injuries, police said. Crevier received a written warning for a right-of-way violation, police said.
Meriden Man
While on patrol on Church Hill Road the night of August 26, police said they spotted a motorist who was driving without a front marker plate, so they stopped him to investigate.
Police charged Mariano Quinones, 26, of Meriden with misuse of a marker plate, theft of a marker plate, driving without a license, driving with a defective windshield, and failure to have a front marker plate.
After he posted $500 bail, police released Quinones for a September 13 court appearance.
Sandy Hook Crash
Police report a two-vehicle collision at the hazardous intersection of Walnut Tree Hill Road and Church Hill Road about 5:30 pm August 24.
In that accident, motorist Richard Chmielewsky, 58, of Oxford, who was driving a 2006 Honda station wagon, was attempting to turn left from southbound Walnut Tree Hill Road onto eastbound Church Hill Road, as motorist Robert Arnold, 36, of Southbury, who was driving a 2005 GMC pickup truck, was attempting to turn left from eastbound Church Hill Road onto northbound Walnut Tree Hill Road, police said.
There were no injuries. Chmielewsky received a written warning for a stop sign violation, police report.

I-84 Accident
About 7:30 am August 26, motorist Dimas Villatoro, 28, of Waterbury was driving a 2007 Chevrolet sedan eastward on Interstate 84, near Exit 11, when he lost control of the auto after a tire blew out, state police said. Villatoro struck some guard cables along the right road shoulder. He was not injured. State police took no enforcement.
SUV Vs Sedan
About 4:30 pm August 24, motorist Cindy Panaligan, 28, of Powell, Ohio, who was driving a 2003 Honda Accord eastward on Interstate 84, west of Exit 9, came to a stop for traffic conditions, state police said.
Eastbound motorist Katherine Leone, 60, of Shelton, who was driving a 2004 Jeep Cherokee, could not stop in time and struck the rear end of the Honda, according to state police. There were no injuries. State police said Leone was traveling too fast for conditions.
Squirrel Incident
Motorist Richard H. Lange, 53, of Brookfield was driving a 1997 Ford Ranger pickup truck westward on Route 34 in Sandy Hook about 2 pm August 22, when a squirrel ran from the left road shoulder onto the pavement, police report.
In a maneuver to avoid hitting the animal, Lange swerved and the truck went off the right road shoulder, striking several rocks and damaging the truck, police said.
Lange was not injured. Police verbally warned him for making a restricted turn.

Unknown Vehicle
Police report that at about 8 am August 24, a motorist, who was driving an unknown vehicle, was traveling westward near 7 Sugar Street, when the vehicle drove off the right road shoulder and struck two wooden guardposts. The motorist then left the scene. Police are investigating the incident and ask anyone with information on it to contact them at 426-5841 or 270-8888.
Acura Vs GMC
About 11:18 am August 22, motorist Manuel Alejandro, 21, of 52 Pond Brook Road was driving a 2000 Acura TL westward on Wasserman Way, as motorist Mitchell Falconer, 50, of 301 South Main Street was driving a 1988 GMC pickup truck eastward there, police report.
The Acura then attempted to make a left turn onto the Exit 11 on-ramp of Interstate 84, but cut in front of the approaching GMC, resulting in a collision, police said.
 There were no injuries. Alejandro received infractions for making a restricted turn and for driving without a license, police said.
DUI Incident
Police report that motorist Erin Ross, 39, of Hamden was driving a 2000 Subaru Legacy Outback southward near 89 Taunton Hill Road about 12:30 pm August 28, when the vehicle went off the right road shoulder and struck a mailbox. Ross was not injured, police said.
After investigating, police charged her with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn.
After posting $100 bail, police released Ross for a September 13 court appearance.
Erratic Driving
Police report they observed motorist Glenn B. Zwiebel, Jr, 67, of Watertown driving erratically on Main Street, near Church Hill Road, about 1:30 am August 29, after which they pulled him over on Mt Pleasant Road to investigate.
Following field sobriety testing, police said they charged Zwiebel with driving while impaired and also with a travel lane violation. After he posted $100 bail, police released Zwiebel for a September 13 court appearance.
Two Charges
Police said that on the night of August 29, they stopped motorist Svay Siennakodam, 32, of Danbury after it was learned that Siennakodam was driving with a suspended license.
Also, police said the vehicleâs front seat contained too many passengers.
Police charged Siennakodam with driving while under suspension and with driving an overcrowded vehicle. Siennakodam was released on a written promise to appear in court on September 13.
Shoplifting
Police said that store security personnel at the Big Y supermarket at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street spotted Yakeline Rodriguez, 24, of 23 Bonnie Brae Drive attempt to leave the store without paying for some merchandise on the afternoon of August 29. The woman had her two small daughters with her at the time, police said.
Police charged Rodriguez with sixth-degree larceny and with risk of injury to a minor. Rodriguez was released on $150 bail for a September 13 court appearance.
