Anna M. Doherty, 82, of Sandy Hook, died August 25 at her home. Mrs Doherty was the wife of the late Jack Doherty. She was born in Danbury on May 6, 1925, a daughter of Thomas and Katherine (Cavanaugh) Griffin.
Mrs Doherty was a lifelong resident of Newtown and was a graduate of Newtown High School. She was a longtime supervisor at Fairfield Hills Hospital, until her retirement. She was a member of the Newtown Senior Center and loved quilting, her grandchildren, being with her friends at the Senior Center, and her best friend, Doris.
Mrs Doherty is survived by two daughters, Maureen A. Will and her husband, John, of Sandy Hook and Patricia Ann Hubbs and her husband, David, of Londonderry, N.H.; a son, Edward Doherty of Naugatuck; two granddaughters, Rhianna and Katherine Doherty; a sister, Rosalie Perruccio of Niantic; a nephew, Robert D. Knapp and his wife, Renee, and their sons, John Daniel and Matthew, all of Sandy Hook; and a niece, Susan Knapp of Burlington, Vt. She was predeceased by a son, David Doherty.
A graveside service was held at St Rose Cemetery August 29.
