Residents are reminded that FAITH Food Pantry has relocated from Sandy Hook to a spot near the center of town.following the decision earlier this year to close the historic Washington Avenue church. St Rose has promised to build a permanent structure for the pantry, but that project could take up to a year to complete, Monsignor Robert Weiss told The Newtown Bee last month.

The longstanding pantry opened this morning at a long-term temporary space at 31 Pecks Lane. Offering Food Assistance, Immediate Temporary Help (the acronym for the non-ecumenical offering), FAITH will operate there until a permanent location can be built on the grounds of St Rose of Lima Church.

Tuesday, August 30, marks the first time the pantry and its volunteers will be operating out of the Pecks Lane location. The pantry will continue to maintain its regular schedule. Residents seeking help with food, hygiene products, cleaning products, and even a limited supply of pet items, are welcome to visit on Tuesdays between 10 am and noon, and Thursdays between 6 and 7:30 pm.

Donations are also welcome during those hours.

Residents can now find FAITH Food Pantry within the Tier One complex at 31 Pecks Lane. The food pantry will be operating out of a temporary location until its permanent home is constructed. (Bee Photo, Voket)
