Shemin, The Landscape Supply Company will hold the 7th Annual Charity Golf Classic, set for 9 am on Tuesday, September 10, at the River Oaks course in Sherman.

Money will be raised with the objective of it going toward a potential permanent Sandy Hook memorial. Cost to play is is $250 for individuals and $1,000 for foursomes.

The day’s events will include boxed lunch, 19th hole reception, and dinner. For non-golfers, there are many other ways to help raise awareness and funds for this endeavor. There are opportunities to place advertisements in the event program, purchase a company tee sign, or donate a gift certificate or other item of value for the event’s dinner raffle/auction.

Shemin, the event host, is locally based with employees who make their homes in Newtown and its neighboring towns. These are employees who were impacted by the tragedy of December 14 — with a direct drive to heal and to help others heal.

Shemin CEO Steffan Burns — himself a Sandy Hook parent — is leading the effort within the company, and he is looking forward to a wonderful day on the course, and hopes this effort leads to a meaningful permanent outdoor space for Newtown.
