Anthony Samuel Russo
Anthony Samuel Russo, 82, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Mary Ann Russo, died August 26 at Bridgeport Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, he was the son of Josephine Giammalva Russo and Samuel Anthony Russo.
Survivors in addition to his loving wife include two beloved sons, James O'Bryan, and his wife Lisa, of Newtown and Jonathan Russo, and his wife Tomoko, of New York City; a brother, Dr Charles E. Russo, and his wife Sophie, of Houston; two cherished grandchildren, a niece, two nephews, and many close cousins residing in the Houston area.
Mr Russo retired as president of the Rhone-Poulenc Basic Chemicals Company, previously a division of Stauffer Chemical Company, where he had worked for 37 years. Following his retirement he served four years as president and CEO of the Coulton Chemical Company in Toledo, Ohio.
He was a devoted and active parishioner of St Pius X Church in Fairfield, where he served as a Eucharistic minister.
Mr Russo was a longtime member of the Patterson Club, where he developed many friendships on the golf course. He delighted in time spent with his family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, August 31, at 11 am, at St Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield, with the Rev Msgr Edward Scull officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 pm, in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
