Truck Vs Deer
Motorist Bradley Argraves, 48, of 3 Skytop Drive was driving a 2008 Nissan Frontier pickup truck eastward near 303 Berkshire Road at about 8:45 am August 20, when while he was negotiating a curve in the road, a deer ran out onto the street from a wooded area, police report.
Argraves attempted to avoid hitting the animal, but collided with it, police said.
Argraves reported wrist pain, but a passenger had no injuries, according to police. There was no enforcement.
Tractor Vs Sedan
Police report a collision between a farm tractor and a sedan near 20 Palestine Road about 7 pm August 19.
Motorist Paul Larsen, 48, of 25 Key Rock was driving a 1998 Mitsubishi Galant sedan northward on Palestine Road, police said.
At that time, Jerome Mayer, 52, of 17 Beaver Dam Road, who was driving a 1982 John Deere 2350 farm tractor, was stopped and waiting perpendicular to Palestine Road in a driveway, police said.
The tractor then attempted to make a left turn onto southbound Palestine Road, but collided with the sedan, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Mayer a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
Vehicular Violations
At about 5 pm on August 20, police stopped motorist Gina M. Delafield, 41, of Seymour after they saw her violate a traffic control signal on Wasserman Way.
After investigating, police charged Delafield with failure to obey a traffic control signal, driving while under suspension, and driving an unregistered vehicle.
Police released Delafield on a written promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court on September 2.
Four Charges
While on patrol on South Main Street at about 7:50 pm August 23, police stopped motorist Julio Maldonado, 33, of Danbury because his vehicleâs registration had expired.
Police said that Maldonado gave them a false name and a false date of birth in identifying himself.
After investigating, police charged Maldonado with criminal impersonation, interfering with police, driving with a suspended license, and failure to carry a vehicle registration card.
Police released Maldonado on $500 bail for a September 11 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Windshield Damage
About noon on August 19, police responded to a residence at 92 Alpine Drive after receiving a report of a damaged windshield on a vehicle there.
After investigating, police determined that someone had vandalized the windshield sometime between 1 pm on August 17, and 10 am on August 18.
Officer David Donahoe, who is investigating, asks anyone with knowledge of who committed the second-degree criminal mischief to contact him at the police station at 426-5841.
Unlocked Vehicles
Police report two cases of someone entering unlocked vehicles on Beechwood Drive overnight on August 23/24 and stealing items from one of the vehicles.
Police said that sometime between 11 pm August 23 and 7:45 am August 14, someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked at 22 Beechwood Drive, stealing an XM-brand satellite radio unit and a Kyocera-brand cellular telephone, thus committing sixth-degree larceny and third-degree criminal trespassing.
Also, sometime between 11:30 pm August 23 and 7:45 am August 24, someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked at 25 Beechwood Drive, but apparently stole no items from within, thus committing third-degree criminal trespassing, police said.
Police ask anyone with information on the incidents to contact Officer John McCluskey at the police station at 426-5841.

Vehicle Taken
About 8:48 am August 22, police received a report of an ex-employee taking a vehicle without permission at an industrial firm at 18 Commerce Road.
Police found the vehicle and the ex-employee on Commerce Road and investigated, after which they charged Philip Taylor, 38, of Waterbury with driving a vehicle without the ownerâs permission.
After processing, police released Taylor on $100 bail for a September 4 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Toddy Hill Road
Police report that while on speed enforcement patrol on Toddy Hill Road about 10:30 am August 24, they stopped motorist Daniel Mallozzi, 23, of 25 Berkshire Road for exceeding the speed limit.
After investigating, police charged Mallozzi with traveling too fast for conditions, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving while under suspension, and driving without automotive insurance.
Police released Mallozzi on $250 bail for a September 9 court appearance.
Bristol Man
Newtown police said that late on the night of August 23 they learned that Plymouth police were holding a Bristol man for whom Newtown police had a rearrest warrant, so Newtown police went to Plymouth to transport the man to Newtown for processing.
Newtown police charged Andrew Smith, 18, of Bristol with failure to respond to an infraction stemming from an original charge of simple trespassing.
Newtown police said that early on the morning of September 5, 2007, they had charged Smith with simple trespassing for being on the Fairfield Hills grounds after it had closed to the public. Smith, however, failed to respond to that trespassing infraction, after which a warrant was issued for his rearrest.
After he posted $92 bail, Newtown police released Smith for a September 8 court appearance.
DUI Arrest
Police report that they were dispatched to a residence on Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook Center about 1 am August 24 on a report that a motor vehicle accident had occurred involving the evasion of responsibility.
Police said that before they arrived at the scene, the alleged offender had returned there, after which they investigated the case.
Police said they charged motorist Hector Chacon, 32, of East Haven with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, and disorderly conduct.
Police said they held Chacon on $500 bail for an August 25 court appearance.
Gift Cards
Police said that midday on August 22, they were called to the Super Stop & Shop supermarket at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street (Route 25) on a report that a store employee had stolen some store gift certificates.
After investigating, police said they learned that employee Donna Catalaro, 25, of Monroe had taken two gift cards â one in the amount of $100, and the other in the amount of $50 â and then electronically activated the cards without paying for the cards.
Police charged Catalaro with sixth-degree larceny. After processing, police released her on $150 bail for a September 4 court appearance.
Chain Reaction
A three-car chain-reaction accident occurred near 160 Mt Pleasant Road about 4:20 pm August 22.
Eastbound motorist Tomasita Carreras, 60, of New Milford, who was driving a 1999 Saab 9-5 sedan, stopped for traffic conditions, after which eastbound motorist Michael Gagnon, 38, of Waterbury, who was driving a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant sedan, slowed behind the Saab 9-5, police said.
Eastbound motorist Monique Quiles, 32, of Waterbury, who was driving a 2004 Saab 9-3 sedan, then struck the Mitsubishi from behind, pushing the Mitsubishi into the rear end of the Saab 9-5, police said.
Carreras told police she would seek medical attention for back pain from her personal physician. Police issued Quiles an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance part and for driving an unregistered vehicle.
Truck Vs SUV
Motorist Benjamin Johanson, 20, of Shelton, who was driving a 1995 GMC Sierra pickup truck southward on Route 34 about 12:40 pm August 22, attempted to make a right turn onto Jordan Hill Road, but collided with motorist Diane Kozel, 52, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2003 Toyota Highlander SUV which was stopped at a stop sign on Jordan Hill Road, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Johanson an infraction for failure to drive to the right.
Intersection Crash
Police report a collision at the intersection of Palestine Road and Platts Hill Road about 12:40 pm August 21.
The accident involved motorist Charles W. Gillingham, 86, of 30 Hundred Acres Road, who was driving a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser SUV, and motorist Ellwood W. Williams, 69, of 7 Aunt Park Lane, who was driving a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix sedan, police said.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Gillingham for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign.
Church Hill Collision
Motorist Michael B. Matteson, 63, of Hancock, N.H., who was driving a 2001 GMC Yukon SUV eastward near 14 Church Hill Road about 6:38 pm August 20, slowed for traffic at an intersection, after which the GMC was struck from behind by motorist John H. Parker III, 24, of Southbury, who was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry, police said.
There were no injuries. Parker received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said.
