Responsible Dog Ownership & Adoption Day Returning Sept 7
Mt Pleasant Hospital for Animals will host the 2008 AKC-sponsored Responsible Dog Ownership and Adoption Day on Sunday, September 7.
The event will return to the parking lot and lawn area of the animal hospital at 119 Mt Pleasant Road, at the intersection of Routes 6 and 25. It will run from 10 am until 4 pm.
Admission is free and pets are welcome.
Bill Berloni, the author of Broadway Tails: Heartfelt Stories of Rescued Dogs Who Became Showbix Superstars will be at the event from 1 to 3 pm, signing copies of his book and answering questions from readers. Copies of Mr Berloniâs book are $20, and proceeds from the dayâs book sales will benefit Canine Advocates of Newtown.
Local rescue and advocate groups will be participating, including Canine Advocates of Newtown (CAN), The Animal Center, and Greyhound Rescue. A few farm animals from Rowanwood Farm will also be on site for the day.
From 11 am to 3 pm, pet owners will be able to put their dogs through Canine Good Citizen tests. How well mannered is your dog? AKC evaluators will administer ten-step tests for $15 each, cash only.
All day, Pet Partner Therapy volunteers will be available for Q&A, and a Home Again Microchip Clinic will be offered. Owners can take advantage of a $35 Responsible Dog Ownership Day special, which includes activation and first year fee, usually a $65 charge.
Food will be available for humans and animals, and prizes will be handed out all day.
